The Stettler Community Hall was abuzz as hundreds of people from Stettler and the surrounding area came in for the annual Taste of Stettler, an event showcasing local liquor and food options.

The popular event is one of the bigger fundraisers for the Stettler Rotary Club, the host of the event said. The money goes back into the community through programs, helps the exchange student program run, and helps world-wide projects.

The square hall was bordered by long tables full of liquor vendors and food vendors. Food vendors included local restaurants, grocery stores, and catering companies, and featured everything from seafood to cheese and fruit to baked cakes.

Stettler's Pheasant Festival made its debut at the event, serving up two different pheasant dishes, showcasing not only the festival but the bird itself.

"What I like about this event is that we get to showcase our local restaurants and stores," Rotary Club President Samantha Templeton said. "We weren't quite sold out at the start of the event this year, but tickets have been selling at the door."

While it's too soon to know how successful the event will be on the fundraising side, the gathering was obviously successful as people tried different foods and drinks and discovered new favourites.

While people enjoyed the company of their friends and the culinary adventure of the evening, local jazz group The Jazz Guys played to entertain the participants as is an annual tradition.
