Dan Barnec doesn't let being a nonagenarian stop him from going out and enjoying the sport of floor curling, and the annual Botha spring floor curling tournament was no exception.

Barnec, 94, rarely missed his shots at the weekend tournament, which saw 12 different teams from Botha and the surrounding communities of Halkirk, Castor, Bawlf, Daysland, Stettler and Endiang compete for the first place bragging rights.

While Barnec's excellent play anchored his team, they didn't make it to the finals. The bragging rights in the end went to the Frank O'Hagan rink made up of O'Hagan as skip, Josie Hunter, Edith Stratulate and Dorothy Diprose.

"We have this event every spring and fall," Hunter explained. "We have it at the Botha Seniors' Activity Club with a catered dinner and snacks."

Participation in the event remains about the same every year, with everyone having a good time, Hunter said.
