The Botha Community Hall saw a flurry of activity as members and visitors of all ages got together to enjoy an afternoon of dance on Sunday, Feb. 28 to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, a few days ahead of the actual event.

"The club has been celebrating St. Patrick's Day dances for more than 20 years," said Douglas Haustein, president of the Botha Old Tyme Dance Club, who has been involved with the club along with his wife Bernadette for 13 years. "Today we socialized with everyone, giving out six door prizes relating to St. Patrick's Day to qualified guests by using a bingo machine having the numbers correspond to the number of the line an attendee signed on."

Dancers jived to numbers such as 'Tennessse Waltz', 'Log Jammers' Waltz', 'Beer Barrel Polka', 'Heel and Toe Polka', 'Oklahoma mixer round dance' and many more played by the band Country Gems, based out of Millet and Drayton Valley.

Among the 55 attendees were twins, Jehlyn and Harmony Stirling who had come from Castor with their grandfather John Stirling.

"Today we have people from as far as Sedgewick and Strathmore," said Gilbert van Straten, secretary. "People come from quite a distance to be able enjoy a dance and have a few laughs with members and friends."
