Every table surface was filled with bingo cards at the second annual turkey/ham bingo at the Donalda Coulee Friendship Club.

The second annual turkey and ham bingo drew people in to the Donalda Drop-In centre on Thursday, Nov. 24.

Hosted by the Donalda Coulee Friendship Seniors' Club, the event made its return this year after a successful inaugural event in November 2015, according to club member Marlene Conibear.

Though numbers were down slightly from the previous year, the event was still tremendously successful, Conibear said.

"It's not a big money-maker for us," she noted. "We only clear about $100. It's about doing something for the community."

The event is quite popular and the hall was full of smiles and laughs, as well as good natured cheering and booing when someone called out the words, "BINGO!"

There were a combination of 15 turkeys and hams available to be won in the games, which varied from standard bingo games to special ones, like border, X, cross, and blackout, to name a few.

The event is also environmental friendly, as the club has reusable bingo plaques that don't require dabbing with ink. It also is a chip-free night, as the bingo cards have sliders that mark off numbers that have been called.

It keeps the night neat and tidy, according to players Lois and Elroy Hill. The pair travelled to Donalda from Forestburg with Robert Gray.

"It's a lot of fun," Elroy said.

Making the jaunt down the highway is worth it, the trio said, because it's important to support events going on in the community.

A chance at winning a turkey or ham – or, ideally, both – is also a lucrative draw.

"Even if you don't win, you have fun," Lois added.
