Stettler Cougars travelled to Wetaskiwin on a cold, blustery Saturday, Oct. 10, to face the Wetaskiwin Warriors, beating them 56-0.

Scoreboards do not always tell the truth about every game and the Wildcats’ football game against the Sabres of Wetaskiwin last Friday, Oct. 2, was certainly one game that the score was unfair to the losing team.

Stettler’s bantam football team continued with its confident march to the central football league championship title by subduing one of its strongest rivals on Saturday, Oct. 3: Cougars 48 -Olds Bulldogs 8.

Volleyball action continued throughout the week in many schools in the area with both league games and tournaments.

Stettler Lightning opened the regular season of the Heritage Junior B Hockey league with a 5-2 home win over Banff Academy Bears on Saturday, Oct. 3, but lost to Three Hills Thrashers 3-2 in a road game.

Wm E Hay athletes took part in the provincial Peace Hills high school track and field meet in Wetaskiwin on Saturday, Sept. 24 and returned with some good placements in their categories.

It was not the best of the weeks for Stettler football with two local teams losing to their opponents in scheduled league games.

Stettler minor hockey teams started their round-robin games over the weekend with both coaches and players trying to discover their strong and weak points before the regular league games get under way.

League playoffs have wrapped up for both ladies and men. Ladies’ night will remain as Tuesdays and Men’s as Wednesdays, just will not track for any league stats. Ladies’ league and playoff winners are as follows:
