Wildcat girls triumphant

Wm. E Hay’s senior girl Wildcats turned champions from the Bonnyville basketball tournament over the weekend with several local players receiving individial awards and recognition.

Wm. E Hay’s senior girl Wildcats turned champions from the Bonnyville basketball tournament over the weekend with several local players receiving individial awards and recognition.

Coach Rachelle Campeau said the team placed first in a pool of 10 schools.

“Tessa Mabbott, Kaitlin Poapst and Katrena Heier all received awards for sportsmanship during the games,” she said.

“Melissa Jensen won the three-point competition sinking 13 three-point shots in one minute.”

Melissa Jensen also received the most valuable player award for the final game.

Among other players, Tessa Mabbott topped the scoreboard with 14 points in the second game against Glendon.

“Kerstyn Brown and Jill Corpataux played aggressiveley creating a number of turnovers and upsets within each game; showing to be valuable additions to this year’s team,” Campeau said.
