Weather, camps hit soccer schedule

Rain, wet fields and previously scheduled camping trips organized by schools caused the cancellation of several games in last week’s soccer schedule.

The following results came out of the games that did go ahead during the week May 31 to June 3

• Under-12 girls

Stettler was shut out by Lacombe on June 1.

The game scheduled for June 3 was cancelled due to poor weather.

• Under-12 boys

Stettler played to a 3-3 draw with Lacombe A team on June 1.

Steven McCrea led Stettler with two markers while Todd Yaremcio added one.

• Under-14 girls

Stettler tripled Camrose 3-1 on May 31.

Kennedy Fisher, Grace Chapman and Nikyta Lachowsky scored for Stettler.

A game against Lacombe on June 2 was rescheduled.

• Under-14 boys team 1

Stettler 1 team blanked Ponoka 3-0 on May 31.

Jamie Bromwich, Adam Pitzel and Frank Van Ommeren scored for Stettler 1.

Stettler1 team pummeled Ponoka 5-2 on May 31.

Austin Letendre and Frank Van Ommeren each scored two goals for Stettler which Adam Pitzel added one.

A game against Camrose on June 2 was rescheduled.

• Under-14 boys team 2

Stettler team 2 blanked Clive 9-0 on May 31.

Tyler Wells led the attack with three goals.

Matthew Bennett tallied two markers while Ivan Tomkow, Timothy Ascah, Brandon Kent and Tanner Steinwand each scored one.

• Under-16 girls

Stettler battled Camrose to a 1-1 tie on June 1.

Mary O”Donnell scored the lone Stettler goal.

Games against Camrose on June 3 and 4 were not played because of poor weather.

• Under-16 boys

Stettler played Lacombe 2 team to a 2-2 draw on June 1.

Jeff Skaley and Nick Yaschuk tallied goals for Stettler.

A game against Rocky Mountain House on June 3 was not played because of weather.

• Under-18 girls

Stettler crushed Sylvan Lake / Rimbey 7-2 on May 31.

Cally Strandquist and Angela Vandenburg each popped a pair of goals for Stettler.

Nichola Starling, Amy Nattestad and Ria Warren each scored one.

Stettler settled for a 1-1 tie with Ponoka on June 2.

Cally Standquist scored for Stettler.

• Under-18 boys

Stettler was blanked 2-0 by Rocky Mountain House on May 31.

• Adult soccer

Stettler was edged by Clive 3-2 on June 6.

Wyatt Haustein replied with both Stettler goals.
