The unstoppable Cougars remain unbeaten with another victory

Stettler’s bantam football team continued with its confident march to the central football league championship title by subduing one of its strongest rivals on Saturday, Oct. 3: Cougars 48 -Olds Bulldogs 8.

The last resort - Cougars’ impenetrable defense line forced the Bulldogs to switch their plans to passing games and they did find a touch down towards the end of the game.

Stettler’s bantam football team continued with its confident march to the central football league championship title by subduing one of its strongest rivals on Saturday, Oct. 3: Cougars 48 -Olds Bulldogs 8.

The Cougars kept their undefeated status intact at the end of the game but the Bulldogs can take pride in the fact that they were the first ever team this season to score against the formidable defense line of the home team.

Cougars’ head coach Mike Roach contributed the following comments regarding the game:

“The coaching staff was extremely pleased with the effort The first half was nearly flawless. The offense amassed over 500 yards of offense.

The offensive line and the wideouts blocked very well all day. Tyler Greiner, Dallas Bosma, Matt Kirk, Micheal Lalonde, Jordan McCallum, Clayton Steen, and Austin Cherewko all had excellent days. Braden Nelson was the leading rusher with 256 yards. He was followed by Parker Cassidy with 98 yards, Mark Forrester with 76 yards and Morgan Loshny with 41 yards. Devon Woelk, Bryce Fisher, and Nicholas Baharally added 24 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Micheal Lalonde had seven solo tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a pass knockdown. Mark Forrester had a fumble recovery, Devon Woelk had six tackles, Mark Meyer had a pass knockdown and an interception, Stephen Zuk had a pass knockdown and an interception, and Tyler Stewart had several knockdowns and two interceptions. Parker Cassidy and Theren Churchill each had a number of tackles.”

The Cougars will travel to Wetaskiwin for a 5 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 10. Wetaskiwin has only two wins in the five games they have played.

In the meantime, the Panthers did not play last weekend because their opponents forfeited. They also travel to Wetaskiwin this weekend.
