The last trophy of curling season goes to Erskine

As the curling season drew to a close, two Erskine rinks clashed for the prestigious A Event Winner title of the closing mixed bonspiel of the Stettler Curling Club on Sunday, March 27.

In the end it was the Danny Brown rink of Erskine that edged past Lyle Bignell’s rink 7-4 to win the title.

Danny Brown rink eliminated rinks led by Mark Siemens and S. Jackson to face the Kraut rink in the semi final of the A event.

In the champion rink, Danny Brown was skip, Daylon Brown was third, Bardy Armstorng was second and Brittany Konowaluk was lead.

In the B event, Barry Rock of Stettler and his rink, composed third Sue Dayman, second Lucas Grover and lead Marg Knutson won by a tin margin, with a score of 7-6 over Baker Petrolite rink.

In the C event, Stettler’s Rick Doell rink lost 6-3 to visitors from Leduc in an exciting play.

Winner rink was composed skip Dave Cofield, third Shelley Bolin, second Steve Wilfort and lead Cathy Cofield.
