Wm. E. Hay’s tennis team competed in the Central Alberta School’s Athletic Association tennis tournament in Red Deer on May 31.

The team’s 12 athletes displayed fantastic ability and potential, including six Grade 9 students, many of whom have never played tennis before.

The boys’ doubles team, Rush Davis-Hall and Cody Hoskins, brought home the gold medal in their pool.

The mixed doubles team of Travis Hutchison and Kerstyn Brown lost in a very close bronze medal game, while the Grade 9 girls’ doubles team of Destiny Croker and Jennifer Taylor came second in the consolation final.

“I was very proud of their performance and hard work during the short season,” said coach Hayley Leschert.

The players’ medals will be taken into account for the next scholar year’s ranking.
