Storm win first league game, hope for more

Stettler Storm go onto the fairground diamond tonight, Wednesday, June 1, to play their fourth game of the season with the confidence of having secured their first win in Battle River baseball league play in an away game in Coronation .

The Storm safely edged over the host Cardinals with a score of 11 to 3 last Wednesday, May 26, thanks to reduced defensive errors and more efficient batting.

“Reid Keeley started on the mound for Stettler and pitched seven strong innings. Reid was locating his pitches quite well and was changing speeds well,” said Scott McKenzie of the Storm.

“The bats for Stettler also finally woke up mid-way through the game,” he said.

The Storm scored five runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning to solidify their lead.

“Jason Candlish was three for three with a walk and was hit by a pitch. Aaron Chrapko continued his streak of being hit by pitches to three games,” McKenzie said.

The home team is hosting Killam tonight with the game starting at 7 p.m.
