Stettler’s representative in the Battle River baseball league, the Storm, take to the diamonds for the first time today Wednesday, May 11, when they take on Rosalind in an away game, starting their challenge to bring a trophy to town this year.

According the schedule issued by the league, the Storm will host Heisler in their first home game next Wednesday, May 18 before hosting Coronation the following week.

Scott McKenzie of the Storm said they would be playing all their games on the new diamonds at the new sports park at west end of town.

On June 1, the Storm travel to Killam before hosting Hardisty on June 8.

In the next game, the Storm travel to Forestburg and Spring Lake for two consecutive away games to play the last two games at home against Lougheed and Castor, respectively.

Meanwhile, minor ball and softball games have also got underway with local teams hosting several visitors from neighbouring communities over last week.

No change is reported in the distribution of diamonds among minor ball teams this season.
