The Stettler Wildcats took to the field for the first time of the season on Fri, Sept. 9 in an exhibition game.

Squaring off against the Drumheller Titans on the Titans home turf, the Wildcats were in it to win it from early in the game.

According to team manager Erin Sparks, the Wildcats gained a “substantial” lead in the first half of the game.

The momentum carried into second half.

“In the end, the Wildcats did what Wildcats do and made sure to leave a lasting impression,” said Sparks.

The final score ended being a lopsided 49 to 21 in the Wildcats season premier.

Up next for the team is the first official game of the same, when the Wildcats travel to Red Deer to take on the Notre Dame Cougars on Sept. 16.

The first, of two, home game of the season will take place on Sept. 23 at Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary School with a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m.
