The Stettler Wildcats were honoured during the league banquet earlier in December.

Remaining undefeated in league play with a record of 9-0, the number two ranked team in the province only met defeat in the provincial playoffs at the hands of the number one ranked Holy Rosary Raiders.

During the banquet, 40 players from across the league were named All-stars with 12 players coming from the Stettler roster.

In addition to the players named All-stars, Austin Wiebe was named as league Most Valuable Player (MVP) Lineman, Colton Blanchard was awarded the Defensive MVP, and Kyle Dennis was awarded the league MVP.

On the coaching side of things, assistant-coach Guy Neitz was awarded the 2022 Founder’s Award, an award given to a community member for “their contribution to the sport of football.”

Neitz began his football career with the Wildcats in 1989, first as a referee then moving behind the bench as a coach in 1993.

Since Neitz began coaching, the Wildcats have been undefeated league champions three times, first in 2007, 2018, then in 2022. Additionally, the team won provincial championships in 2011 and finished second in both 2007 and 2016.
