The third annual Stettler Triathlon was held on Sunday, July 16 at the Stettler Recreation Centre with a record attendance of 132, which included 64 adults and youth, and 68 kids.
“We had a great year with people from all over the province, from Lethbridge to Lloydminster, Consort to Bentley and everywhere in between,” said Joel Norman, race director. “Our youngest triathlete was six years old, and the oldest being 74.”
The coordinator for the race was CJ Oprea, while Don Pederson was in charge of running the race.
“We had great sponsorship for the event from Interpipeline and great support from the Town of Stettler’s Rec. Centre,” Norman added. “And we received some great feedback.”
Cordelia Tindall from Camrose was impressed with how the race was conducted.
“It was an exceptional race,” Tindall said. “So well organized, with great maps and information provided; the race course was clearly marked out and easy to follow, and the volunteers were amazing, so friendly and helpful.”
According to Tindall, who had already attended five races in the season, said that the Stettler Triathlon was definitely one of the highlights.
“I wish all races could be run like Stettler’s.”
