The Stettler Storm Mosquito AA won the provincials Aug. 3 – 5 in Barrhead.

They had a phenomenal year, going 13-0-1 during provincial playdowns, and 5-0-0 during the provincials. Prior to the final weekend, they got bumped up to Tier 2 and headed to Barrhead.

On Friday they met up with the Didsbury Jets, and swept them 19-2 in 4, after a four-hour rain delay at the bottom of the fourth inning.

Saturday the Stettler Storm was set to play at 12 and 3 but the rain kept coming, so they ended up only playing the Red Deer Braves at 3. It was a tight game but Stettler came out on top 4-2.

Sunday at 9 a.m. they played their final round-robin game against the Beaumont Bosox, again winning 13-4, which put them in the semifinals. They ended up playing the home team, the Barrhead Orioles and squeaked by to make the finals 3-2.

The final game was set for Monday at 11 a.m. with Stettler Storm taking on the Red Deer Braves.

Red Deer came out strong and scored two runs in the first inning, which Stettler had trouble matching until the fourth inning.

Then came the fifth inning, with two out Stettler went on a hitting spree, putting eight runs up on the board. They managed to hold Red Deer for two more at-bats, winning the game 10-2. It was a nail biter through and the kids shone when they needed to.
