The Stettler Savages U14 girls lost to Elnora 8-5 on Wednesday, June 8 bringing an end to their winning streak after a couple of initial losses at the beginning of the season.

"The girls came off a huge high going undefeated in our home tournament and rolling through a nine-game winning streak," said assistant coach Kevin Shuckburgh. "Following a big high we came out flat and lost to a good Elnora team, and although nothing's broke, just a handful of mental errors and a lower level of intensity which is uncharacteristic of our team need to be taken care of."

The pitchers for the game was Hannah Elines and Faith Shuckburgh.

The Savages beat Bashaw in an away game last Monday, June 13 convincingly winning 23-8.

"We have some great young leaders and they took care of business once again making sure everyone was ready to play Monday night as they beat Bashaw 23 to 8," added Shuckburgh. "It was a complete 180-degree turn from last week, because the truth is our coaching staff can teach fundamentals all day long but I attribute the focus and intensity improvement being driven by the leaders on our team."

The Stettler mosquitos played in Provost over the past weekend winning their first game 16-3 over the Beaumont Red Sox and continued their success over the Fort Saskatchewan Red Sox with a final score of 13-0.

The Stettler team will host the next round of provincial play downs on June 25-26.
