Stettler resident runs Boston Marathon

Stettler’s well-known senior athlete Bridie Forde added yet another accomplishment to her list of achievements by running in and completing the Boston Marathon.

Forde clocked 5 hours 2 minutes and 42 seconds in finishing the race on Monday, April 18.

A total of 26,907 people registered for the world’s oldest annual marathon this year. Out of that number, 11,462 were women. In total, 2,410 runners were from Canada.

Forde was part of 57 women aged 65 to 69 that ran the marathon.

The 67-year-old former teacher finished 22,611th overall, 9432nd in women and 37th in her division.

Her next competition will be at the Alberta 55+ Games this summer.
