The William E. Hay Nockbusters archery team had a successful run and came third overall at the second annual National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) National Championships, hosted by the Edmonton Boat and Sportsmen's Show, from Thursday to Sunday, March 10-13.

"The Nockbusters archery team had a great showing at Nationals this past Thursday in Edmonton," said coach Tanja Heatherington. "We placed third out of 17 high schools with over 1,700 kids participating."

Colby Barclay won his grade 9 boys' category with a score of 283 and had the second highest male score overall.

"We had many individuals place second and third in their individual categories as well," said Heatherington. "I am very proud our young team. In the beginning I told the kids we would need an average of 260 per kid to even think about placing and they responded with an average of 265."

The team will attend the Smoky Lake tournament on April 9, and provincials in Drayton Valley on April 29.
