The Stettler Peewee Panthers have won the Tier 2 League Championship title and punched their ticket to the provincial championships to be played later this month.

Squaring off against the Rocky Jr. Rebels on home turf in Stettler on Nov. 4, the Panthers turned out and provided a dominating performance.

The Panthers were firmly in the driver’s seat beginning early in the game; Jordane Campbell got the scoring started with a six-point touchdown run and a two-point run.

He followed that up with another touchdown, followed this time by a conversion; the score at the end of the first quarter was 15-0.

Not to rest on his laurels, Jordane got the scoring started in the second quarter as well, with a 6-point touchdown on a 65-yard run.

Following Campbell’s touchdown, Diego Quinones closed the quarter with a touchdown of his own; at the half the score was a lopsided 27-0 for Stettler.

After half-time, Quinones once again made his mark, picking up another touchdown, which was then assisted by Campbell with a two-point run.

Quinone’s offensive outpouring had one last burst, scoring another touchdown and a conversion point in the third quarter.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the game all but over, Daniel Okoroafer managed to get on the scoresheet himself with a 105-yard run touchdown.

The final score was 49-0 in favour of Stettler, with the Panthers securing the title for the second year in a row.

With the win, the Panthers have secured their spot in the Tier 2 finals, which was played on Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. at JP Bowl in Edmonton against the Leduc Wildcats.
