The Stettler Minor Hockey Association hosted a U13 tournament at the Stettler Recreation Centre (SRC) over the Remembrance Day long-long weekend.
Featuring a dozen teams in three divisions, both arenas at the SRC were kept hopping.
Things started off a little after noon on Nov. 11 when a team from Blindman took on the Camrose Vikings.
The first Stettler team to get into action was the Stettler Storm ‘A’ squad took on another Blindman team, ending in a tie.
All three Stettler squads got into action on Nov. 11, with the ‘A’ squad tieing one and losing one. The ‘B’ and ‘C’ squads both won their games.
On Nov. 12, all three teams were back in action. First up was Stettler ‘B’ defeating Camrose by 6-0 at 10:15 a.m. in the Red Arena. That game was quickly followed by the Stettler ‘A’ squad going up against Airdrie. Unfortunately, the ‘A’ squad lost the game 7-3.
Stettler ‘B’ played again at 4:45 p.m., winning their third game. the Stettler ‘C’ squad played two games on Nov. 12, tieing one and winning one.
After two days of play, the stage was set for the finals. The Stettler ‘A’ squad played in the consolation game, which they won locking them in for third place in the tournament.
The Stettler ‘B’ squad lost their game in the final, securing them second-overall in the tournament.
Finally, the ‘C’ squad, after ranking first in the division, lost in the final to Battle River in a shoot out.
