Stettler Midget B girls won the provincials championship beating Lloydminster 4-1 in the final on Sunday, March 13 at Camrose.

It was a weekend provincial tournament hosted by Camrose, with the Stettler girls being in the first place going into the semi-final with three wins and one loss.

They beat Fairview in the semi-final 7-0 to face Lloydminster in the final.

"It was a very strong tournament from start to finish and felt like the B side of the draw was definitely the strongest side so I think it worked to our advantage because we had to play hard meaningful games the whole tournament," said coach Mike Kuefler. "It is a testament to the girls we have on our team, who were up to the challenge."

According to Kuefler, it seemed like there were different girls stepping up in every game and the goaltending was strong which always help.

"We avenged our only loss in the tournament by beating Lloydminster in the final, and we could tell the girls really wanted the gold, because they never took a shift off and controlled the game right from the start," added Kuefler. "Our veterans really took their game to anther level and our rookies were a very strong group. It was a total team effort all weekend long."
