Stettler Midget A beats Cochrane 4-2, will face Red Deer for CAHL championship

Stettler Midget A played a charged game to beat Cochrane 4-2 on Saturday afternoon, March 12, securing their berth in the CAHL final against Red Deer.

Tye Mulgrove scored the first goal assisted by Mark Bengert, followed with another goal by Quade Cassidy, assisted by Drew Cassidy and Brendan Bardwell, giving Stettler the lead of 2-0 at the end of first period.

Cochrane tried to level the score but was unable to break through Stettler defence, scoring a lone goal in the second period, while Stettler reinforced their stand against their opponents with a third goal from Matthew Sylvester, assisted by Quade Cassidy and Ethan Rost during power play, backed by Stettler's fourth goal from Ethan Rost, assisted by Matthew Sylvester and Quade Cassidy.

Stettler began the third period leading 4-1 and although Cochrane scored their second goal with about 10 minutes remaining, Stettler Midget A had ensconced their spot in the provincials with Red Deer when the buzzer went off, the final score being 4-2.

The CAHL championship is a best of three games with the first being Stettler facing Red Deer in a home game on Thursday, March 17 at 7.30 p.m.

The second game is hosted in Red Deer on Saturday, March 19 at 5 p.m. and the third game if needed will be hosted in Stettler on Sunday at 4 p.m.
