Stettler Imperials lose game three to Irma, place second in ECSHL for season

Despite a strong inaugural season running all the way through to the playoffs, the Stettler Imperials just didn’t have enough in them to crack the armour of the Irma Aces.

Despite a strong inaugural season running all the way through to the playoffs, the Stettler Imperials just didn’t have enough in them to crack the armour of the Irma Aces.

Losing 7-4 in the first two games of the best of five series, Irma came out hard during game three on home ice.

To their credit, the Stettler Imperials kept the goal differential low through the first 53 minutes of play resulting in a 4-2 score with seven minutes left.

Unfortunately, when the team pulled the goalie in favour of an extra skater, Irma was able to score three more quick goals.

Still, with a 5 win, 5 loss, and two overtime-loss record and making it all the way through to the East Central Senior Hockey League finals, the inaugural season should be considered a success and starting point for seasons to come.
