The Stettler Imperials have found their way back into the win column following a tightly-contested victory over the Delburne Outlaws on Feb. 10.

While the Imperials started scoring early, the Outlaws were able to keep the pressure on and by the end of the first period the Imperials trailed with a score of 3-2 after being out shot 15-12.

The Imperials rallied in the second period, scoring twice and peppering the Outlaws goalie with 22 shots. The Imperials defence limited the Outlaws to just eight. At the end of the second Stettler led with a score of 4-3.

Entering the third period, the Imperials offense came alive with another 24 shots on net while the team’s defence allowed just eight shots in return. Each team scored in the third, resulting in a 5-4 Stettler win.

Stettler out-shot the Outlaws by almost two to one by the end of the game. Shots on goal were 58 for Stettler to 31 for Delburne.

With the win, Stettler has nine wins for the season and currently sits in fifth place in the East Central Senior Hockey League, one point the Irma Aces.

The next, and final, home game of the regular season is Feb. 17 with an 8 p.m. puck drop when the team hosts the eight-place Forestburg Flyers.

Game tickets are available at the Stettler Independent, several other businesses around town, or at the gate.
