Stettler hosts Yonex AJC – Stettler Junior badminton tournament

The Wm. E. Hay Stettler Secondary Campus gymnasium was host to the Yonex Alberta Junior Circuit (AJC)’s eighth tournament from Friday to Sunday, Feb. 3-5.

“There were 105 entries in total this year,” said Bruce Laroque, main organizer. “This was the Stettler Junior tournament and we had U13, U15, U17 and U19 players from all over Alberta.”

The various categories in which the players could participate were singles, doubles and mixed in both boys’ and girls’ categories.

The winners were as follows in the boys’ singles Josiah Tong (U13), Luv Modi (U15), Connor Johanson (U17) and Alex Hagarty (U19).

In the boys’ doubles, the winners were Jacques Henning and Josiah Tong (U13), Trent Lee and Xander Zwanepoel (U15), Connor Johanson and Alister Salmon (U17) and Sam Kamal and Aden Kepford (U19).

In the girls’ singles, the winners were Evonne Henning (U15) and Melanie Wade (U17 and U19).

In the girls’ doubles, the winners were Evonne Henning and Leah Lindsay (U15) and Janelle Marie Agot and Michlyn Grise (U17 and U19).

In the mixed doubles, the winners were Trent Lee and Emilia Hyland (U15), Carson Waines and Janelle Marie Agot (U17) and Adrian Clark and Katherine Zhang (U19).
