The Stettler Figure Skating Club concluded its 2022-23 skating season in grand style on March 18.
Holding its annual skating carnival on March 18, the club came together for one final time to perform what they have learned over the past season for friends and family.
The theme for the 2023 carnival was “When I Grow Up,” and the skaters wore costumes to match; the costumes ran the gamut from aerobic instructors to nurses, and even fighter pilots!
“The evening was a rewarding and fun night for all of our skaters!” said Sara Wengryn, via email.
“Over 300 people showed up to watch all level of skaters perform a variety of solo, synchro and group routines to wind up a busy season of our CanSkate, Adult Synchro and StarSkate programs.”
According to Wengryn, the evening celebrated over 90 skaters, seven program assistants, and seven coaches.
The carnival began with the singing of O Canada by Katie Wengryn before the Junior Star, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Skaters took to the ice for the first performance.
In total, the entire skating program lasted just under an hour-and-a-half split into two, with an intermission in the middle.
While the season is done for the year, the club will return for the 2023-24 season!
