The Stettler FC U12 Girls were invited to the second annual Spirit Cup hosted by the Wetaskiwin Minor Soccer Association on Saturday, June 17.

The girls played their first game against Spruce Grove and tied 1-1 in the last minute of play, with Ashley Lang saving the day for Stettler.

Their second game was against league rivals, Wetaskiwin. Playing a great offensive game, Stettler won 3-0, putting them in the final against Spruce Grove. Goal scorers were Drew Turnbull, Lang, and Carli Mottus.

Later in the evening, when Stettler faced opponents Spruce Grove for a second time, they used their confidence and played another gritty game of soccer to overcome them 2-0 in a shut out, with goals by Lang and Kate Bradford.

They will be playing in Ponoka this weekend in provincial qualifiers.
