A season of curling came to a close this past weekend, April 1-3, as the Stettler Curling Club hosted its annual Closing Mixed Bonspiel.

With 24 rinks competing this year, the bonspiel beat last year's lower turnout of 18, and saw curlers from their early teens to their 80s throw rocks.

The three-day bonspiel saw games run constantly on the club's many sheets, and by Sunday afternoon, only the last six teams were left to compete.

The Danny Brown rink, made up of Danny and Daylon Brown, John Raidan and Brett Bignel took the A final, while the Karl Krautt rink of Karl and Grace Krautt, Joe Schieble and Fred Von Krogh took the B final. The C final went to the Larry Mulgrove rink, made up of Mulgrove, Gail Millard, Bob Byers and Kathy Rairdan.

According to rink manager Jamie Devnich, the curling bonspiel was enjoyed by everyone, even when the rocks didn't fall the way the skip hoped for.
