Senior girl Wildcats end season after losing to Wetaskiwin

The basketball season is now over for all Wm. E Hay teams following the defeat of the senior girl Wildcats in Wetaskiwin last Friday, March 12, their playoff round.

The basketball season is now over for all Wm. E Hay teams following the defeat of the senior girl Wildcats in Wetaskiwin last Friday, March 12, their playoff round.

The senior girl Wildcats overpowered Ponoka Broncs 39-35 in their last home game of the season last Wednesday, March 10, and captured the opportunity to go into provincial playoffs, but they were stopped by Wetaskiwin.

Score sheet for the game was not available.

Grade 9 boys’ and girls’ teams were also busy over the weekend at the Central Western Alberta Junior High Athletics Association tournament.

The boys’ team ended up seventh after losing to St. Francis 65-46 in the first game on Friday, March 12. The following day they lost to St. Thomas 62-20, but won 55-4 in their last game against Rocky.

The girls defeated West Central 47-35 and the boys also defeated West Central by 15 points on the consolation side of the tournament.
