Stettler hosts pre-season Western Hockey League action this Friday as the Red Deer Rebels face the Edmonton Oil Kings as an annual fundraiser for Stettler Minor Hockey Association.
Face-off for the game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the game, fans are invited to the tailgate barbecue beginning at 6 p.m.
The game is usually the biggest fundraiser for Stettler minor hockey, netting about $10,000.
The Rebels also annually play pre-season games around central Alberta in communities such as Lacombe, Innisfail and Leduc.
Their efforts to play games in smaller communities serve the Rebels almost as much as the towns they visit as the games are designed both to support minor hockey and to build fan base for the Red Deer team.
