Coronation Royals fall at home

Despite some solid looks, the Coronation Royals came up bust when the team hosted the Irma Aces in Castor on Nov. 15.

The Royals pushed the game into an extra frame but fell 5-4 in overtime to the Aces.

The Royals were put on the defensive early with a quick goal by Irma's Lincoln Glover just under three minutes into the first frame. However, the Royals quickly regained their composure and the next three goals were all Coronation.

Irma began chipping away at Coronation's lead through the second period, and by the time the buzzer closed the second period, the game was tied at three.

Another pair of goals were traded in the third period, sending the game into overtime, with Irma's Zach Mackay scoring the game-winning goal just under a minute into the extra frame.

Irma capitalized on one of four power play opportunities while receiving 27 penalty minutes. The Royals were zero out of six on their power play opportunities, however, the team only logged 12 penalty minutes.

Coronation Royals Captain Matt Hanger led the way with a goal and an assist for the evening, while Tanner Eno also picked up a pair of goals.

Shots on goal were 42-36 in favour of Irma with Leuck saving 37 shots and leaving him with a 0.881 save percentage.

The Coronation Royals remain winless this season with four regular-time losses and one overtime loss.
