The Erskine curling rink was hopping on Feb. 12 as Erskine School hosted the CARA Curling bonspiel, with its own Gracie Morbeck rink taking silver.

There were 16 teams playing – three from Erskine, two from Byemoor, Stettler, Coronation and Brownfield, and one each from Big Valley, Halkirk and Castor.

The tournament featured round-robin play, with the winners from each of four pools advancing to the semi-finals and then finals. The Koryn Duncan and Dylan Heidecker rinks from Coronation, the Gunnar Keith rink from Byemoor and the Morbeck rink from Erskine advanced to the finals.

Morbeck and Heidecker competed against each other first, with Morbeck winning 4-2.

The Duncan rink defeated the Keith rink to compete with Morbeck for the gold. Heidecker went on to beat Keith for the bronze.

In the final game of the tournament, Morbeck started out strong, scoring four points before Duncan battled back to win.
