Big Valley’s Ty Mappin, a member of the Olds Grizzlys of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, was involved in a Western Hockey League trade last Friday as the Everett Silvertips traded his WHL rights to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2015. Mappin, who played in the WHL last season with the Silvertips, has been with Olds since the opening of this season.
Saskatoon general manager Lorne Molleken said Tuesday night that the Blades plan to call up Mappin this weekend, but that the plan is to keep him with the junior A Grizzlys for the rest of this season.
Mappin turns 18 this month.
