Local players aim for basketball title in Red Deer

With several Stettler players on its roster, Wells Furniture basketball team is looking forward to a third championship in the B division of Red Deer’s senior men’s basketball league.

Keeping hopes high – Wells Furniture basketball team with several Stettler players on its roster is entering the playoffs in the second division of the senior men’s basketball league with big hopes of championship.

With several Stettler players on its roster, Wells Furniture basketball team is looking forward to a third championship in the B division of Red Deer’s senior men’s basketball league.

With such names as Brook Doan, Dave McComish, Steven McComish, Bryce Leschert, Colin Leschert, James Bible, Justin Stevens, and Anthony Jackson representing the community in the team, the players are confident that they will be able to continue their current winning streak of five games as the playoffs get underway.

If they win over Sylvan Lake on Tuesday, March 31, they will advance to semi finals against either HMI or RDC Royals in a game scheduled for April 6 at 8:30 p.m. If they proceed to win that game, they will be one of the finalists on April 8 at 7:15. All games are played at Lindsay Thuber in Red Deer.

As two-time defending champions of Division 2 in Red Deer, with Dave McComish being named MVP for both years, the team will also be well represented in the league all-star game with Dave McComish and James Bible. The game will take place in Red Deer at Lindsay Thurber April 18 at 4:30.
