Controlling the ball – The game between Stettler and Byemoor Grade 9 girls’ teams saw exciting moments at times when Stettler girls stepped up their efforts to catch up with the visitors at the Stettler elementary gym.

Stettler’s Grade 9 boys’ basketball team travelled to Caroline for a tournament for what the coach Norbert Baharally described as a successful weekend, finishing third after winning two of their three games.

In their first game on Friday, Jan. 21, Stettler boys eased past the Rocky Mountain House outscoring their rivals easily with a final result of 58-36.

The next day, they lost to Carstairs 47-37 in what turned out to be an interesting game of defensive battle.

The result put Stettler boys in a challenge against the hosts Caroline for third place.

“The boys managed to beat the home team by a score of 47-39,” said Baharally.

“It was a hard fought but successful weekend,” he said.

Their Wm. E Hay boys now play against Stettler Middle School on Thursday.

As for the Grade 8-9 girls’ team, they hosted Byemoor and lost 35-20 to the visiting team on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
