The Stettler High School Rodeo, which was hosted at the Stettler Agriplex over the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, Aug. 26–28 saw high point winners in both junior and senior categories from faraway communities of Wardlow, Eckville and Barrhead.
At the junior rodeo, Wardlow’s Kendal Pierson was the high-point winner among girls, while Eckville’s Stran Pollitt was the high-point winner among the boys.
As for the senior rodeo, Barrhead’s Taylor Schmidt was the high-point winner among girls, while Kagen Schmidt was thehigh-point winner among the boys.
The junior champions in each category were as follows:
Saddle bronc – Kegan Bishell, tie-down – Cole Brain, pole bending – Taylor Cholach, ribbon roping – Levi Schmidt and Sara JoFletcher, bulls – Kegan Bishell, breakaway boys – Couy McBride, breakaway girls – Avery Aleman, goat tying girls – Kendal Pierson, goat tying boys – Landon Warren, barrels – Jewel Pollock, team roping – Chance Freemark and Owen Schauer and chute dogging – Stran Pollitt.
Buckle winners for the senior category were as follows:
Saddle bronc – Hayden Cole, tie-down – Beau Cooper, pole bending – Quinc Squair, bulls – Tanner Eno, breakaway – Taylor Schmidt, goat tying – Kyli Whiteside, barrels – Madelyn Schauer, bareback – Jake Plotts, steer wrestling – Kagen Schmidt and team roping – Kash Bennett and Tate Schmidt.
Although there was a downpour on Saturday early evening while the last event of the day – barrel racing – was on, participants remained undeterred, running the barrels as scheduled.
Next weekend, Sept. 4-5 participants will take part in the Bowden High School Rodeo.
