Doan brothers on national TV

Halkirk’s international hockey sensation Shane Doan of Phoenix Coyotes and his 11-year younger brother Brook Doan will appear on the popular outdoor reality TV series “Mantracker” on Sunday, April 17, in what promises to be an exciting episode.

“We have always wanted to do this” said Brook Doan in reference to the adventurous chase that they went through for the program.

“We applied and we could get through by some of Shane’s contacts,” he said.

“It was last spring when we applied and the episode was taped last July.”

It was the adventure they would never want to miss.

“We both like to do all sorts of stuff like that and were very excited when we found out that we could do something like this together,” said Doan.

“It was like a kind of dream for me to be able to spend a couple of days with Shane out in the bush, it was a lot of fun.”

Shane Doan was not available for an interview but Brook Doan said he thought the biggest challenge of the whole adventure was climbing a mountain which was 6,000 feet high.

“We had to go over the top of the mountain to get through to the finish line and we spent a lot of time climbing that mountain. It was really tough training but the mountain was definitely the hardest part,” said Doan.

“I can’t really give away too much of what happened but the chase as a whole was very exciting and in the process we ran into them a few times,” he said.

For enthusiasts of the series, it will undoubtedly be interesting to watch to local men on the run from their chasers.

But for Brook, it will be most interesting to see how he will look in the episode.

“It will be exciting to see how it all panned out, I am a little bit, not nervous, but a little bit anxious to see how they portrayed me.”

“I know what happened and how we ran the race, but you don’t know what is going to be shown.”

“It was a two-day run in the bush and you don’t know what shots will be packed into a one-hour show,” said Doan.
