Stettler Curling Club’s annual Men’s Open Bonspiel ended with the victory of John Armstrong team from Erskine on Sunday, Feb.7 at the local curling rink, after Ryan Mulgrove’s Stettler team was defeated 6-2 in the A event final.
The Armstrong team reached the final by eliminating first the team of Randy Jones and later the team of Collin Georget. In the following round, Armstrong team edged over Neil Connor team to face Lyle Bignell team in the semi-final.
The winner of the B event was the Rick Doell team of Stettler. winning over Randy Jones’ Donalda team 8-4.
In their journey to the B event title, the Doell team eliminated the teams of Doug Leflar and Bob Trautman to reach the final.
Collin Georget’s Stettler team was the winner of the C event final which saw Eric Haustein’s Erskine team lose 8-3.
Georget team edged over Rick Smith team and Karl Kraut team to reach the final.
