Castor, Stettler, aim for success at 'Spring Tune Up' archery tournament

Tournament hosted teams from all over the region

Castor's Gus Wetter and Theresetta Catholic Schools hosted their Spring Tune Ups archery tournament over the weekend of March 14 and 15. 

The tournament was another positive showing for both Castor and Stettler schools.

Castor's top archer was Kelsey Stirling, who ended the tournament with a score of 283 and finished first in Grade 6 girls and third overall in the girls division.

Not too far behind Kelsey was Piper Dennie, with a score of 277, good enough for second place in the Grade 9 girls and ninth overall in the girls.

Kelsey's older sister, Annabelle Stirling, was in the mix among top archers for Castor, with a score of 269, good enough for third in Grade 8 girls and 18th overall in the girls.

Ty Plett was the top-ranked male archer, scoring 264, which earned him first in Grade 6 boys and 30th overall in the boys division.

David Buck was the next-ranked male, with a score of 230, earning him first in Grade four boys and 58th overall.

Right behind him was Zander Howe, with a score of 218, placing him third in Grade 6 boys and 64th overall in the division.

Over at Theresetta, Ivory Cross was the top archer with a score of 196, earning her first in Grade 4 girls and 87th overall in the girls division.

Stettler's archers had a good showing as well.

Kye Hoimyr was the top Stettler girl, with a score of 284, earning her first place in Grade 10 girls and second in the division.

Coming in one point behind was Megan Schrijver, with a score of 283, earning her first in Grade 12 girls and fourth overall in the division.

Rounding out the top three girl archers was Brooklynn Stewart, with a score of 280, which earned her first place in Grade 11 girls and fifth overall.

In the boys division, Grayson LaRose scored 291, coming in first in Grade 9 boys and second overall.

Not too far behind LaRose was Logan Wheat, who scored 284, earning first place in Grade 12 boys and fourth in the division.

Rounding out the top three boys, Liam Shepherd scored 276, good enough for second place in Grade 9 boys and tenth overall.

The girls' division had 110 competitors and the boys' had 103.
