Stettler Bobcats had a great showing in jamboree style games against Lacombe and Rocky Mountain House in Red Deer last Saturday, Sept. 17.

The Bobcats' first opponent, Lacombe Grey, were a strong team, according to assistant coach Mark Neitz.

"They gave us a challenge both offensively and defensively, but the Bobcats responded in kind, playing solid football and testing the Lacombe team," said Neitz.

Assistant coach Kevin Shuckburgh took great pride in how the boys played and how far they had come in terms of confidence and game fundamentals.

"I'm so proud of how our boys played in the weekend," said Shuckburgh. "We continue to teach good sound fundamentals in practice and it shows in the games."

Shuckburgh added that the boys are slowly gaining confidence in themselves and their teammates.

"As this happens they begin to gel and play as s complete offence or defence on the field," explained Shuckburgh. "We aren't just building football players, we are building confident young men and teaching them to work together."

The second game against Rocky Mountain House saw the Stettler Bobcats play a confident game on both sides of the ball, being able to outmatch their opponents.

"Both the offence and defence were played with confidence as the players ran around making tackles and plays," added Neitz. "As coaches, we are able to see the Bobcat players gain confidence each week as they strive to learn the fundamentals and rules of the game."

Neitz said that they were very pleased with the efforts being put from these boys and look forward to seeing them grow within the game.
