The Stettler Alliance Church held a sports camp on Wednesday, July 8, which ran from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for kids aged between four and eight, and from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for kids slightly older, aged nine to 13.

All through summer, Stettler Alliance Church has organized day camps and games to keep kids healthy and active.

"We are trying to give kids free opportunities to play, mingle and make friends with others who they can connect with or they like," said Pastor Tyler Ans, day camp coordinator. "It is important for kids to be active, and so we are trying to get them out of the house, rather than being in front of televisions, on the couch."

All the programs have been devised in a way which gets kids outdoors. But, sometimes when it gets too hot, Ans takes the kids in the air-conditioned gymnasium of Alliance Church and makes them play hockey or soccer.

Camps held so far have been very successful and include Super Hero Games, Sports Camp and Olympic Sports Games. Others like Princess and Pirates, Science and Crafts and Water Games will be held in August.

The summer program will be capped off on August 31 with family movies and barbecue.
