Basketball season back in full swing

Wm. E Hay’s JV basketball teams renewed their confidence with home wins on Monday, Jan. 11 against the Rebels of Rocky Mountain House following their defeat at the hands of Camrose Trojans a week earlier.

Wm. E Hay’s JV basketball teams renewed their confidence with home wins on Monday, Jan. 11 against the Rebels of Rocky Mountain House following their defeat at the hands of Camrose Trojans a week earlier.

Wildcat JV girls scored a convincing 51-19 victory over their opponents with Mykayla Sorenson, Ashlynn McKinnon and Jasmine Mc Arthur leading the scorers.

Wildcat JV Boys, for their part, edged over the visiting team 37-32 thanks to a well-executed pressure defense.

As for the senior girl Wildcats, they returned from Rocky Mountain House on Jan. 5 with a handsome 58-30 win over the senior Rebels in their first game after the Christmas break. Point guard Katrena Heier led the offense with 22 points and made some decisive turnovers possible changing the pace of the game.

Senior boy Wildcats, on the other hand, lost 52-43 in their game to senior boy Rebels.

Both senior teams were scheduled to play in Red Deer against Notre Dame as the Independent went to press on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
