Barrel racers were fast

The first barrel racing event of the season gathered rider of all ages at the Stettler Agriplex on Sunday with competition taking place in several divisions from peewee to open.

The first barrel racing event of the season gathered rider of all ages at the Stettler Agriplex on Sunday with competition taking place in several divisions from peewee to open.

The best score of the day was achieved by Christine Ross on Quill with a time of 13.587 seconds followed by Melissa Thiessen who finished the course in 13.860.

In the second tier of the open division the best score came from Tammy McCormish with 14.294 followed by Melissa McNab with 14.341.

The third tier of the open division saw Hallie Willis win the top spot with a time of 15.032 seconds followed by Candace Potter with 15.286.

In the youth division Tier 1 competition, Joyce Davidson clocked 14.382 seconds to win the first place followed by Brooke Cooper who was slightly slower with 14.653.

There was not much of a competition in second and third tiers of the youth division as Brooke Cooper and Brittney Strandquist rode alone, respectively.

In the peewee division, Anna Lawroysen was the winner of the first tier with 18.378.

In the second tier Denton Burns did not have any competitor but colcked a good 26.807.

The winner of the third tier in the peewee division was Randon Ross with a time of 29.881.
