Local swimmer Alana Skocdopole continues to excel in her swimming career, achieving better times at every swim meet she takes part in.

It was not much different when she participated in her first senior national event in Montreal at the 2010 Pan Pacific Trials from March 31 to April 4, where she was one of only two swimmers who represented the Red Deer Catalina swim club.

Skocdopole achieved three new best times and three age group national time standards, including Alberta Top 25 youth recognition in the 100m butterfly and set a new Catalina club record in her 50m butterfly effort, according to Mandi Smith, Catalina head coach.

“It was a pretty exciting thing to be a part of,” said Smith with reference to the Montreal event.

“Red Deer swimmers sharing the team benches with the 2008 Canadian Olympic swimmers was pretty interesting.”
