The 15U Stettler Storm AA baseball club has had an incredible season.

With a strong regular season campaign boasting 30 wins to a single loss, the Storm were in good shape when they entered Provincial play over the August long weekend.

In round robin play, the Storm went 3-0 with a 10-5 win over the Sylvan Lake Mariners, a 7-5 win over the Red Braves, and a 12-5 win over the Chestermere Crushers.

A round robin-type tournament has each team play each other, and then the teams with the best scores proceed to the next level.

Heading into the semi-finals, the Storm faced their “toughest game” according to parent Tasha Bozek, when the team faced the Olds Spitfires. The game went seven innings and the Storm narrowly defeated Olds with a score of 8-7.

Heading into the championship game, the Storm faced the Black Gold 47s from Leduc/Beaumont, defeating them with a final score of 22-7.

With provincials behind them, the Storm head to Westerns over the weekend of Aug. 18-21 where they will face all-star teams from across the prairies.

“Our team is super excited to represent Alberta and will do our best to represent our province and, if all goes well, we’ll bring home another gold medal,” said Bozek.
