The latest from Byemoor and Endiang

By Les and Rosemary Stulberg

Mark your calendars for the Community Garage Sale at the Endiang Hall on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tables are $10.

There will be a community table for those who would like to donate items, with proceeds to the hall. To reserve a table call or text Theresa Christie at 403-741-7525.

Following registrations, the Endmoor Minor Ball Association has a full roster with one team in each category — T-Ball, Coach-Pitch, Rookie and Mosquito teams.

Umpires are needed and anyone wishing to help with that is asked to contact Kary Lyn Keith.

Kai Tucker, a 12-year-old baseball player from Endiang, recently had a memorable experience.

He was one of the players from the Stettler team chosen to represent the Central Alberta team at the Spring Championship baseball tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, March 24-27.

Teams in the 8 – 14 age groups are drawn from all over the United States, and some from Canada, to compete.

It coincides with Spring Training for the major leagues.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Doyle Grover who passed away in Stettler on March 18.

Doyle was born in 1946 to Gordon and Irene Grover. He was raised on a farm north of Byemoor with brothers Richard and Marvin. He was predeceased by his only son Doyle Jr.

Our thoughts are with his wife Wendy and other members of the Grover family.

Congratulations to Jesse Jack on being named Player of the Year by the Alberta College Athletic Conference.

Jesse plays hockey on the Olds Broncos women’s team. That’s great work, Jesse.

Robert and Sheila Buchwitz flew home from a six-week stay in Mazatlan where they enjoyed the warmth of Mexico.

As this is their annual vacation spot, they have gotten to know and make friends with several folks from across Alberta who return each year; this includes folks from Hanna and Stettler.

Happy 80th Birthday wishes are sent to Bev Davis who celebrated her milestone birthday on March 23. Hope you enjoyed your special day, Bev and best wishes for many more.

Happy 65th Birthday to Bob Ackerman. Bob celebrated his special birthday on March 19. Enjoy those government cheques, Bob.

Dale and Dee Green arrived home on March 26 after spending more than two months in the southern U.S. with their motorhome.

They spent their time at Palm Springs, Calif. and at various locations in Arizona with much time spent in the Tucson area where they were able to visit with Dee’s aunt and uncle.

Dale and Dee made their way home through B.C., which included a stop at Surrey where they visited with Dee’s brothers Lee and Jef whom they hadn’t seen in several years.

They also saw daughter Delaine and her family in Surrey as they were on their way to a vacation at the coast.

The Greens also spent a few days at the Fairmont Hot Springs before returning home.

Happy Birthday wishes are sent to the following seniors with upcoming celebrations.

Happy 90th Birthday wishes go out to Carol Stulberg on April 2 and also to Margaret Sacuta celebrating her birthday the same day. Happy 83rd Birthday to Doris Schilling on April 3.

Sympathy is sent to the family of Gary Cousins who passed away on March 25 in Stettler at the age of 83 years following a lengthy illness.

Gary was a long-time farmer of the Delia district before retiring to Drumheller.

Our thoughts are with his wife Marg, daughters Lorene (Larry) Stulberg, Leanne (Jim) Sorensen, Lorna (Morris) Schilling and their families, as well as the mother of his children Cherrone Ziemmer.

Thoughts for day —

“A person who feels appreciated will always do more than is expected.”

“When “I” is replaced by “we”, even illness becomes wellness.”

“Life has no remote control – Get up and change it by yourself.”
