Two episodes remain of SEAL Team season seven before the men of Bravo Team hang up their wet suits.
SEAL Team started as a military procedural following the Navy SEALs of the United States Navy Developmental Group (DEVGRU), the former Seal Team Six.
Fronted by David Boreanaz, who previously starred on the television shows Angel and Bones, SEAL Team focused on both the personal and professional lives of the frogmen as they undertake some of the most dangerous missions possible.
Over the course of the seven seasons, the team members have dealt with tragedy, triumph, and everything in between.
The series has dealt with what happens to veterans who serve after they leave the military and the difficulties they face; it's dealt with traumatic brain injury –apparently, an all too common injury in the team in the form of "breacher's syndrome" and it's dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder.
SEAL Team has also introduced many sayings and concepts that I have written on over the last several years.
I'm not going to go as far as to say that the shows has been life-changing, however, concepts it has introduced, such as that of the "three-foot world," "slow is smooth, smooth is fast" and others have altered my perspective.
Despite the first season of the show getting off to a rocky and very slow start – I just about gave up on it before the midway of the first season– the show did ultimately find its storytelling legs and, in my humble opinion, has been on an upward trajectory ever since.
Following the move from network television to streamer Paramount-plus, the seasons may have gotten shorter, but the storytelling has gotten more explosive.
The final season of the series has continued the highs and lows for Bravo Team, and as the series heads into its final two episodes, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat.
I'm just hoping the writers do the series finale justice when the final credits roll when the last episode drops on Oct. 6.
This is one series I will definitely miss, but I am glad it is heading out on a high note.
