As the holiday season approaches, there's a noticeable shift in the atmosphere. People are busy preparing for Christmas festivities, and a common theme is the spirit of giving.
This attitude is evident everywhere, whether through volunteering or financial contributions, as individuals generously give to others.
In fact, it is scientifically proven that the happiest people on Earth are those who live to give.
While there is joy in receiving and accumulating wealth, estates, and material things like vehicles and toys, the greatest joy comes from sharing what you have with others. This is why Jesus Christ said in the Bible, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
Having a generous heart offers many rewards. It can improve physical and mental health by lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of illness, while also boosting happiness and well-being.
Giving promotes personal growth by fostering empathy and compassion, strengthens social connections, and provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Additionally, it helps reduce stress and anxiety, enhances financial well-being, and deepens spiritual connections.
Giving cultivates gratitude, supports community cohesion, and fosters a positive outlook by uniting people to address social and economic needs.
Therefore, give more than what is expected of you; surprise people by giving them something extra. It can be money, a service, a smile, or a helping hand.
As the scripture says, “Give and it will be given to you” (Luke 6:38).
Two of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, have pledged their fortunes to help others because they have discovered the blessing in giving. Another up-and-coming millionaire is MrBeast, a popular YouTube creator who addresses hunger, homelessness, and unemployment, donating all channel revenue to charity.
In 2023, he gave away $2.7 million worth of clothes to communities in need, built 100 wells in Africa, providing clean water to 500,000 people, and his food bank has donated over 1 million pounds of food, including relief for Hurricane Ida victims. He also supports orphanages and funds blindness cures.
There is a millionaire in the United States who has built various luxurious churches for the Hispanic community in Oregon. One day he said, “You know, the more I give to God, the more He gives me.”
It seems illogical for this person to spend his money helping others, but instead of his money running out, he receives more.
This is how things are with God. They are illogical but true, secure, and wonderful. And finally, the greatest gift one can receive or give to others is Jesus Christ, for He is the ultimate gift for humanity, embodying God's boundless love and grace.
His life and teachings offer a path to redemption, hope, and eternal life. By embracing His message of compassion, forgiveness, and selfless service, we find true purpose and fulfillment.
During the Christmas season, let His birth remind us of the profound impact of His sacrifice and inspire us to share His love and kindness with others.
