Byemoor/Endiang news

By Les and Rosemary Stulburg

Several members of the Endiang-Byemoor community including a group of 22 from the Endmoor Drop-In Centre took in one of four performances of “Four Old Broads”, a comedy presented by Stage Hanna.

The dinner theatre ran March 4, 5, 11 and 12 at the Hanna Community Centre.

It was certainly nice to be attending bigger community events once again.

Congratulations to Troy Wilkie and Tarn Chaowongdee of Airdrie on the birth of their son Finnley David Wilkie on Jan. 27 in Calgary. Finnley weighed seven pounds eight ounces. Baby Finnley had an extended hospital stay but is doing much better now.

Also, congratulations to the local grandparents Clifford and Lynda Wilkie.

Three generations of curling fans, Roxy Gallagher, along with her daughter Nadine Hein and granddaughter Marena Hein, took in some of the Brier action in Lethbridge last week.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Geraldine (nee Hogg) Christoffersen of Calgary who passed away on March 3 at the age of 90 years.

Geraldine (Geri) was the oldest of four children born to Alex and Helen Hogg.

She was raised on the family farm south of Endiang with her siblings Doreen, Dennis and Gordon (Joe).

Geri and her late husband Chris operated a drywall business in Calgary for many years.

The couple had two daughters, Pat and Debbie, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Our thoughts are with Geri’s family in their loss, including sister Doreen Boehlke and brother Joe (Karen) Hogg.

The arena in Byemoor has been busy lately with hockey games of the younger teams. The locals are doing very well in their games this season.

Watch for the Boar’s Cup coming up the last weekend of March to end the hockey season.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 to all who are Irish or wish they were.

Irish Humour for the Day —

“Why do the Irish like to recycle? Because they like to go green.”

“Never iron a four-leaf clover. You don’t want to press your luck.”

“Only Irish Coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups – Alcohol, Caffeine, Sugar and Fat.”

“You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.”
